The Nominating Committee is getting ready to identify candidates for the 2008-2009 AAMSS term.
I mention this because it is a good time to remind you of your value to the Association and our professions -
and to encourage you to volunteer your service at the State and National levels.
Often there is a misperception about one's capability to serve - that it is dependent on a vibrant personality, extensive education,
prestigious position, or ability to speak to a large group (in six different languages). Capability to serve really is determined by one's integrity,
honesty, ability to listen, compassion, and passion. Great leaders don't come from the same cookie cutter as most, it's true.
Great leaders want to do the right thing for the right reason, and they are willing to devote personal time and energy to make it happen.
The diversity of personalities, talents, and strengths of our Association members have served us well for twenty-five years.
I bet you have something to offer too.
