Presidents Message

AAMSS President -

Thank you for allowing me to serve as your President for the next two years. I start each new year being cautiously optimistic about the opportunities that lie ahead, 2012 is no different.

I want to encourage every member of AAMSS to consider taking an active role in your Association. You may not be able to serve as a Board Member or Committee Chair but we welcome you to participate in many other areas:
 provide door prizes
 encourage others to join AAMSS
 suggest and assist with obtaining speakers for meetings
 offer to host a meeting

Be thinking of what you can do to assist with AAMSS growth. In a time of rapid changes, the presence of new people and fresh ideas will promote creativity and improvement in board decision making. It is not too early to start thinking about the 2014-2015 elections of Officers and appointment of new Board members and Committee Chairs.

Board members play an important role in AAMSS survival. They volunteer hours of their time to serve you. I encourage you to get to know those that volunteer to improve the AAMSS chapter. Each Board member holds a full-time job yet is willing to give of their time to ensure AAMSS continues with the original commitment which is to:
 provide opportunities for continuing education
 promote the improvement of professional knowledge and skills
 provide a networking for people engaged in Medical Staff/managed care activities

Times have definitely changed in the healthcare world. There will continue to be extremely difficult decisions made in order for hospitals to survive. Changes have affected each of us, we have assumed more responsibilities and with each added responsibility we ask how much more can I volunteer. Just keep an open mind about what you can do to assist. Remember - this is your organization. Thank you again for allowing me to play a small role in helping you.
