The Alabama Association Medical Staff Services "AAMSS" was founded in 1982 by a small group of Birmingham medical staff managers for the purpose of developing networking and educational opportunities. Today, the association consists of over 70 professionals representing hospitals and managed care organizations throughout the state. The primary goal of AAMSS is to provide opportunities for continuing education, to promote the improvement of professional knowledge and skills by uniting persons who are engaged in the medical staff/managed care activities through our state association, and to support the mission statement of NAMSS.

AAMSS is the state chapter of the National Association Medical Staff Services and an affiliate of the Alabama Hospital Association.
